16 | 12 | | as Lucchese, Rocketbuster, Caboots, and Tony Lama, along with a |

17 | 13 | | host of other renowned businesses that have contributed to |

18 | 14 | | El Paso's growing influence as a leader in producing premier |
---|
19 | 15 | | Western footwear; and |
---|
20 | 16 | | WHEREAS, El Paso's array of boot makers includes multiple |
---|
21 | 17 | | companies that have been in operation for more than a century, and |
---|
22 | 18 | | the craftspeople who power the industry have proven their mastery |
---|
23 | 19 | | of techniques that have been passed down for generations; and |
---|
24 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In addition to producing products of exceptional |
---|
25 | 21 | | quality, these businesses fuel the local economy, create jobs, and |
---|
26 | 22 | | attract visitors from around the world to witness the handiwork of |
---|
27 | 23 | | the city's artisans; and |
---|
28 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Through their dedication to the preservation and |
---|
29 | 25 | | promotion of their trade, the boot makers of El Paso have elevated |
---|
30 | 26 | | the craft and furthered the cultural and artistic identity of the |
---|
31 | 27 | | Lone Star State, and the city's role in promoting the continued |
---|
32 | 28 | | vitality of this time-honored and uniquely Texan tradition is |
---|
33 | 29 | | indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas |

35 | 31 | | hereby designate El Paso as the official Boot Capital of Texas; and, |
---|
36 | 32 | | be it further |

37 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section |

38 | 34 | | 391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in effect |

39 | 35 | | until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally |

40 | 36 | | passed by the legislature. |
