108 WHEREAS, The Gulf of America is a vital economic and
119 strategic resource for the United States, providing critical trade
1210 routes, energy resources, and national security benefits; and
1311 WHEREAS, Texas, as a sovereign state within the United
1412 States, retains ownership and authority over the 10-mile zone off
1513 its coast, ensuring that its natural resources and economic
1614 interests are protected; and
1715 WHEREAS, The Trump Administration has prioritized American
1816 energy independence, economic growth, and state sovereignty,
1917 aligning with Texas' strategic interests in managing its coastal
2018 resources; and
2119 WHEREAS, Strong federal-state partnerships are essential for
2220 the responsible development of offshore energy resources,
2321 fisheries, and maritime trade to benefit both Texas and the broader
2422 United States; and
2523 WHEREAS, Securing Texas' economic and territorial
2624 sovereignty strengthens national security by preventing foreign
2725 influence and ensuring responsible stewardship of natural
2826 resources; now, therefore, be it
2927 RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
3028 hereby recognize the strategic importance of the Gulf of America to
3129 the economic and security interests of Texas and the United States;
3230 and, be it further
3331 RESOLVED, That the Texas Legislature affirm Texas'
3432 sovereignty over its 10-mile coastal zone and support its authority
3533 to manage its resources in alignment with national interests; and,
3634 be it further
3735 RESOLVED, That the Texas Legislature commend the Trump
3836 Administration's policies that support energy independence,
3937 economic growth, and state sovereignty; and, be it further
4038 RESOLVED, That the Texas Legislature encourage continued
4139 collaboration between federal and state entities to enhance energy
4240 production, maritime trade, and resource management in the Gulf of
4341 America; and, be it further
4442 RESOLVED, That the Texas Legislature oppose any federal
4543 overreach that would undermine Texas' control over its coastal
4644 resources and call for policies that prioritize state rights and
4745 economic prosperity.
