| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Pflugerville boasts an expansive trail network that |

| 9 | 9 | | provides residents and visitors with ample opportunities for |

| 10 | 10 | | exercise, recreation, and social connection; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Currently, Pflugerville maintains 56 miles of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | public trails within its city limits as well as an additional 15.2 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | miles in its extraterritorial jurisdiction, totaling more than 71 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | miles of accessible paths; an analysis by city staff has found that |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Pflugerville has more public trails per capita than any other city |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in the state, with 1.49 miles per 2,000 residents; moreover, an |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | estimated 94.8 percent of its citizens live within a half mile of a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | trail, and 70 percent use the trails regularly; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Pflugerville's trail network meets robust safety |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | standards and features parking, lighting, and restrooms along major |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | routes, ensuring a safe and convenient experience for trail users |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of all ages; in addition to facilitating access to green spaces, the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | trails serve as a hub for a wide variety of cultural activities, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | including community events, recreational programming, and public |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | art installations; the pathways also help to reduce traffic |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | congestion by connecting local neighborhoods, schools, and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | businesses; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The trail network in Pflugerville has made the city |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | a popular destination for Texans who enjoy active lifestyles, and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the city is indeed deserving of special recognition for its |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | steadfast commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | hereby designate Pflugerville as the official Trail Capital of |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Texas; and, be it further |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in effect |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | passed by the legislature. |
