77 A JOINT RESOLUTION
88 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing certain persons
99 under the age of 18 to vote in a primary election.
1010 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Article VI, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1212 adding Section 1a to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 1a. The legislature by general law may provide for
1414 voting in a primary election by a person who:
1515 (1) will be 18 years of age or older on the date of the
1616 subsequent general election for state and county officers; and
1717 (2) satisfies the other applicable requirements for
1818 eligibility to vote.
1919 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2020 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025.
2121 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2222 proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing a person
2323 who will be 18 years of age or older on the date of the general
2424 election for state and county officers to vote in the preceding
2525 primary election."
