	8	+	WHEREAS, Manufacturers in Texas play an integral role in the
	9	+	state's economy and development, and their important contributions
	10	+	merit special recognition; and
5	11		WHEREAS, Texas manufacturing contributes more than
6	12		$292 billion to the state's economy, totaling 11 percent of the
7	13		state's gross output; because of this outstanding level of
8	14		production, Texas is one of the nation's leading exporters of
9	15		manufactured goods, with items made in the state representing
10		-	nearly $292 billion of the manufactured products exported from
11		-	~~the~~ United States; and
	16	+	nearly $292 billion of the manufactured products exported from the
	17	+	United States; and
12	18		WHEREAS, Approximately 847,000 Texans work in the sector,
13	19		receiving an average annual compensation of over $123,000; these
14		-	positions spur subsequent growth, with every new manufacturing
15		-	job leading to the creation of 7 to 12 additional openings;
16		-	moreover, manufacturing is responsible for 70 percent of all
17		-	research and development spending; and
18		-	WHEREAS, The wide variety of products manufactured in
19		-	Texas includes chemicals, computers and semiconductors,
20		-	electronics, machinery, petroleum and coal goods,
21		-	pharmaceuticals and medical devices, food and beverage items,
22		-	agricultural products, aerospace products, motor vehicles,
23		-	plastics, textiles, steel, and rubber; this broad diversity is
24		-	key to maintaining a competitive advantage in an increasingly
25		-	global economy; and

32	37		WHEREAS, Manufacturers drive innovation, create high-paying
33	38		jobs for numerous Texans, and contribute to the future economic
34	39		health of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
35		-	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
36		-	Legislature, hereby recognize February 18, 2025, as Texas
37		-	Manufacturers' Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those
38		-	associated with these vital businesses sincere best wishes for
39		-	continued success.
