2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		recognize February 19, 2025, as Texas A&M University--Corpus
4	10		Christi Day at the State Capitol; and
5	11		WHEREAS, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi traces its
6	12		origins to 1947, when the University of Corpus Christi was
7	13		established; in 1989, the institution joined The Texas A&M
8	14		University System and brought about an era of growth and academic
9	15		excellence; and
10	16		WHEREAS, Today, the university serves more than 11,400
11	17		students; it offers a diverse range of bachelor's, master's, and
12	18		doctoral degrees through various colleges and programs,
13	19		including business, education and human development,
14	20		engineering, computer science, liberal arts, nursing, health
15	21		sciences, and communications; and
16	22		WHEREAS, Committed to meeting the evolving needs of Texas'
17	23		workforce and industries, the university continues to expand its
18	24		academic offerings with many new degree programs as well as
19	25		education-related certificate programs; it is also home to
20	26		world-class centers and institutes for autonomous geospatial and
21	27		marine research; and
22	28		WHEREAS, As one of the state's premier institutions of
23	29		higher education, Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi plays a
24	30		vital role in shaping the future of Texas, and it is truly fitting
25	31		that a day be set aside to recognize its commitment to academic
26	32		achievement, research innovation, and community development;
27	33		now, therefore, be it
28	34		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
29	35		Legislature, hereby recognize February 19, 2025, as Texas A&M
30	36		University--Corpus Christi Day at the Capitol and extend a warm
31	37		welcome to the visiting delegation; and, be it further
32	38		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
33	39		honor of this special occasion.
