	8	+	WHEREAS, The celebration of University of North Texas Day at
	9	+	the State Capitol on February 25, 2025, provides a welcome
4	10		opportunity to recognize this notable institution; and
5		-	WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1890, the University of
6		-	North Texas has been a driving force for progress, innovation,
7		-	and entrepreneurship; the institution is committed to setting
8		-	students up for success through its focus on both scholastic
9		-	excellence and career readiness, and it offers a wide range of
10		-	internationally ranked programs that not only foster students'
11		-	academic and intellectual development but also provide
12		-	leadership and service opportunities; and
13		-	WHEREAS, UNT plays a major role in strengthening the
14		-	economy and talent pipeline in the State of Texas, with its
15		-	students earning some 13,000 degrees each year; the university
16		-	boasts an alumni network of over 480,000 graduates, which
17		-	includes more than 5,000 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who hold
18		-	executive titles; moreover, many of the school's alumni have gone
19		-	on to distinguish themselves in their fields of endeavor, and
20		-	graduates of the UNT College of Music, a program recognized as
21		-	one of the nation's best, have collectively received 119 Grammy
22		-	Awards to date; and

28		-	such as biology, materials science, mechanical and energy
29		-	engineering, and logistics; and
30		-	WHEREAS, Throughout its history, UNT has built a
31		-	commendable reputation for academic excellence, research, and
32		-	service, and it has made important contributions to the North
33		-	Texas region and beyond; now, therefore, be it
34		-	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
35		-	Legislature, hereby recognize February 25, 2025, as University
36		-	of North Texas Day and extend sincere best wishes to the school's
37		-	students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
