28 WHEREAS, Betsy Buhler of Community Bible Church in San
3- Antonio has enriched the lives of countless people through her
4- work as a chaplain; and
9+ Antonio has enriched the lives of countless people through her work
10+ as a chaplain; and
511 WHEREAS, Born and raised in Lebanon, Tennessee, Chaplain
612 Buhler was called to the ministry while still a teenager, and she
713 went on to volunteer at church summer camps and to become a youth
8- pastor; for 18 years, she worked at Lifeway, a Christian
9- publisher based in Nashville, Tennessee, helping coordinate the
10- worship team for large events hosted by the company; she moved to
11- San Antonio in 2001 to accept a position at Community Bible
12- Church, and for nearly two decades, she led the congregation's
13- media team; and
14+ pastor; for 18 years, she worked at Lifeway, a Christian publisher
15+ based in Nashville, Tennessee, helping coordinate the worship team
16+ for large events hosted by the company; she moved to San Antonio in
17+ 2001 to accept a position at Community Bible Church, and for nearly
18+ two decades, she led the congregation's media team; and
1419 WHEREAS, In 2006, Chaplain Buhler was invited to become a
15- chaplain with the San Antonio Police Department after having
16- worked with the agency to coordinate funerals for officers killed
17- in the line of duty; she also served as a chaplain for the San
18- Antonio Silver Stars WNBA team and has acted as a spiritual
19- resource for CASA; and
20+ chaplain with the San Antonio Police Department after having worked
21+ with the agency to coordinate funerals for officers killed in the
22+ line of duty; she also served as a chaplain for the San Antonio

2025 WHEREAS, Chaplain Buhler is the founder of reFocus Today
2126 Ministry, a nonprofit organization established in 2013 that
22- provides chaplaincy, pastoral, and counseling services in a
23- range of settings, including hospitals, businesses, and first
24- responder agencies; in recognition of her wide-ranging work, she
25- has been honored as "Chaplain to the City" and is also known by
26- her nickname, "Chappy B"; and
27- WHEREAS, This esteemed chaplain has exemplified the
28- highest standards of her calling, and her many good works have
29- earned her the lasting admiration and respect of all who know
30- her; now, therefore, be it
31- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
32- Legislature, hereby honor Chaplain Betsy Buhler for her service
33- in the ministry and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
34- future; and, be it further
27+ provides chaplaincy, pastoral, and counseling services in a range
28+ of settings, including hospitals, businesses, and first responder
29+ agencies; in recognition of her wide-ranging work, she has been
