58 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
6- meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and
7- friends of Kenneth Wayne Garner of Plano, who passed away on
8- May 7, 2024, at the age of 81; and
9+ meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
10+ of Kenneth Wayne Garner of Plano, who passed away on May 7, 2024, at
11+ the age of 81; and
912 WHEREAS, The son of Kenneth Wayne Garner and Dean Wade, Ken
1013 Garner was born on December 5, 1942, in Brownsville; he grew up in
1114 and around Abilene and later moved to the Dallas area; and
1215 WHEREAS, In the course of a successful career, Mr. Garner
1316 worked as an engineer at LTV/E-Systems, and he started his own
14- business, Kentronix Communications, in 1973; he eventually
15- retired from E-Systems in 2007; and
17+ business, Kentronix Communications, in 1973; he eventually retired
18+ from E-Systems in 2007; and
1619 WHEREAS, A Shriner and 32nd degree Mason, Mr. Garner also
1720 volunteered with the Pontiac Club and at the Highland Springs
18- senior living community; in his leisure hours, he enjoyed a
19- variety of hobbies, including hot rod racing, trap and skeet
20- shooting, and operating ham radios; and
21- WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Garner drew strength
22- from the rewarding marriage he shared with his wife, Myra
23- Amerland Garner, and he took great pride in his children,
24- Michelle, Christy, and Don, as well as his seven grandchildren
25- and nine great-grandchildren; and
26- WHEREAS, Although Ken Garner is deeply missed, those who
27- were privileged to share in his love and friendship will always
28- remember him with great admiration and affection; now,
29- therefore, be it
30- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
31- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Kenneth Wayne
32- Garner and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends;
33- and, be it further
