3 | 3 | | Gun Violence are gathering in Austin on February 27, 2025, to |

4 | 4 | | observe Texas Majority to End Gun Violence Advocacy Day at the |

5 | 5 | | State Capitol; and |

6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence is an |

7 | 7 | | alliance of organizations and experts working to prevent and |
---|
8 | 8 | | reduce gun violence through education, training, and |
---|
9 | 9 | | mobilization; the group also advocates for policies related to |
---|
10 | 10 | | mental health, domestic abuse, and other issues that impact local |
---|
11 | 11 | | communities; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The coalition is supported by Texas Gun Sense, a |
---|
13 | 13 | | nonprofit that champions common-sense, evidence-based solutions |
---|
14 | 14 | | for reducing gun-related injuries and deaths; the organization |
---|
15 | 15 | | seeks to educate the public on effective ways to secure guns in |
---|
16 | 16 | | order to reduce crime and personal injury, as well as raise |
---|
17 | 17 | | awareness about suicide prevention and the safe storage of |
---|
18 | 18 | | firearms; in addition, TGS serves as a resource for information |
---|
19 | 19 | | about federal, state, and local gun policies; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence has |

21 | 21 | | worked to keep the people of the Lone Star State safe from |
---|
22 | 22 | | avoidable accidents and injuries through its support for |
---|
23 | 23 | | sensible firearm policy, and this legislative day provides a |
---|
24 | 24 | | welcome opportunity to recognize the organization's members and |

25 | 25 | | volunteers; now, therefore, be it |

26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |

27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize February 27, 2025, as Texas |
