8+ WHEREAS, Proud residents of Kleberg County are gathering in
9+ Austin on March 5, 2025, to celebrate Kleberg County Day at the

511 WHEREAS, Situated both on the broad grasslands of the Gulf
612 Coast and on Padre Island, the area that was to become Kleberg
713 County was first inhabited by the Karankawa and Coahuiltecan
8- peoples; Spanish settlements were established along the lower
9- Rio Grande in the 18th century, and after a period of Mexican
10- rule, the land became part of Nueces County when Texas secured
11- its independence; in 1853, Richard King established the vast King

24- contributions to quarter horse and thoroughbred breeding, and
25- its accomplishments in a variety of other agribusiness
26- interests; and

31- Wildlife Research Institute, and the Irma Lerma Rangel College of
32- Pharmacy; meeting an increasingly critical military need, Naval
33- Air Station Kingsville trains 50 percent of United States Navy
34- and Marine Corps tactical jet pilots every year; and

3742 commissioners David Rosse, Chuck Schultz, Jerry Martinez, and
3843 Marcus Salinas, and county judge Rudy Madrid; and
3944 WHEREAS, The hardworking and forward-looking citizens of
40- Kleberg County are building on a long tradition of excellence,
41- and their history and achievements are indeed deserving of
42- special recognition; now, therefore, be it
43- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
44- Legislature, hereby recognize March 5, 2025, as Kleberg County
45- Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting
46- delegation.
