28 WHEREAS, Clayton Ross Newman of Scouting America Troop
3- No. 194 in Pleasanton has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and
4- this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and

511 WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor
612 bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting
713 movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria,
814 Mr. Newman earned the requisite 21 merit badges and successfully
915 completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his community;
1016 working with a team of 23 volunteers, he built a GaGa Ball pit in
1117 Pleasanton River Park, providing local children an additional
1218 option for physical activity; and
1319 WHEREAS, The son of Larry and Haley Pierce, this fine young
1420 Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout
1521 his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration of his
16- fellow troop members as he worked toward the highest rank that
17- the organization offers; he has held a number of leadership
18- positions, serving as historian, librarian, and assistant senior
19- patrol leader of his troop, and he is also a member of the Order
20- of the Arrow; a junior at Pleasanton High School, he plans to
21- study mechanics and welding at Universal Technical Institute
22- after graduation; and
22+ fellow troop members as he worked toward the highest rank that the
23+ organization offers; he has held a number of leadership positions,
24+ serving as historian, librarian, and assistant senior patrol leader
25+ of his troop, and he is also a member of the Order of the Arrow; a
26+ junior at Pleasanton High School, he plans to study mechanics and

2328 WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Newman's dedication to excellence and
24- his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him
25- worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect
26- with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
27- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
28- 89th Legislature, hereby congratulate Clayton Ross Newman on
29- achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best
30- wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
29+ his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy
30+ to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with
31+ pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
32+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
33+ hereby congratulate Clayton Ross Newman on achieving the rank of
