28 WHEREAS, Proud residents of Hunt County and members of the
3- Greenville Chamber of Commerce are visiting Austin on March 4 and
4- 5, 2025, to celebrate Hunt County Days at the State Capitol; and
5- WHEREAS, Located in northeastern Texas, the land that
6- forms Hunt County was initially settled by Anglo Americans who
7- had received land grants from the Mexican government; the county
8- was established in 1846 out of portions of Fannin and Nacogdoches
9+ Greenville Chamber of Commerce are visiting Austin on March 4 and 5,
10+ 2025, to celebrate Hunt County Days at the State Capitol; and
11+ WHEREAS, Located in northeastern Texas, the land that forms
12+ Hunt County was initially settled by Anglo Americans who had
13+ received land grants from the Mexican government; the county was
14+ established in 1846 out of portions of Fannin and Nacogdoches
915 Counties and was named after Memucan Hunt Jr., who served as the
1016 secretary of the navy for the Republic of Texas as well as the
1117 republic's first minister to the United States; and
12- WHEREAS, Agriculture was the county's leading industry
13- until it was surpassed by manufacturing during the 20th century;
14- today, the county is home to more than 113,000 people, with
15- Greenville, the county seat, and Commerce serving as the largest
16- cities; the many educational and vocational resources available
17- to residents include East Texas A&M University and the Greenville
18- Center campus of Paris Junior College; and
18+ WHEREAS, Agriculture was the county's leading industry until

2228 Children's Museum; in addition, the county hosts popular annual
2329 events, such as the Hunt County Fair and Livestock Show; and
24- WHEREAS, Area residents benefit from the leadership of
25- County Judge Bobby W. Stovall and the members of the Hunt County
26- Commissioners Court, Mark Hutchins, David Monroe, Garry Smith,
27- and Steven Harrison; and
30+ WHEREAS, Area residents benefit from the leadership of County
31+ Judge Bobby W. Stovall and the members of the Hunt County
32+ Commissioners Court, Mark Hutchins, David Monroe, Garry Smith, and
33+ Steven Harrison; and
2834 WHEREAS, The Greenville Chamber of Commerce, which is
29- currently led by president and CEO Shelley Corrales and board
30- chair Mandy Stewart, is dedicated to promoting economic growth
31- and fostering a favorable business climate in the area; over the
32- years, the organization has made a positive impact through a
33- variety of initiatives, including the Ambassador Program, the
34- Hunt County Senior Service Alliance, the Leadership Hunt County
35- program, and the Greenville Young Professionals program; and
35+ currently led by president and CEO Shelley Corrales and board chair
36+ Mandy Stewart, is dedicated to promoting economic growth and
37+ fostering a favorable business climate in the area; over the years,
38+ the organization has made a positive impact through a variety of
39+ initiatives, including the Ambassador Program, the Hunt County
40+ Senior Service Alliance, the Leadership Hunt County program, and
41+ the Greenville Young Professionals program; and
3642 WHEREAS, The people of Hunt County have worked hard to
37- preserve their history and way of life even as they look forward
38- to the opportunities of the future, and it is indeed fitting to
39- pay tribute to their many contributions to the Lone Star State;
40- now, therefore, be it
41- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
42- Legislature, hereby recognize March 4 and 5, 2025, as Hunt County
43- Days at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the
44- visiting delegation.
