28 WHEREAS, Esteemed residents of Pleasanton are gathering at
39 the State Capitol on March 4, 2025, to celebrate the city's rich
410 heritage and promising future; and
5- WHEREAS, Nestled in Atascosa County along the Atascosa
6- River and Bonita Creek, Pleasanton was established in 1858 as the
7- county seat, bearing the name of early settler John Pleasant;
8- although the county seat was moved to Jourdanton in 1910,
9- Pleasanton continued to flourish and became a vital hub for
10- cattle drivers journeying to Kansas, which gave rise to its
11- nickname as the "Birthplace of the Cowboy"; and

18- including Cowboy Heritage Days, Merry on Main, and a spirited
19- Fourth of July festival; and

26- further benefit from the educational and workforce-training
27- opportunities offered by Coastal Bend College; and

33- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
34- Legislature, hereby recognize March 4, 2025, as Pleasanton Day
35- at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to all those
36- visiting on this special occasion.
