2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		recognize the Energy Council on the occasion of the
4	10		organization's 50th anniversary; and
5	11		WHEREAS, Reliable and consistent energy is fundamental to
6	12		economic stability and global security, and the steady supply of
7	13		oil and gas is essential to sustain current consumer demands and
8	14		to ensure energy independence; and
9	15		WHEREAS, The Energy Council was established in 1975 as a
10	16		nonpartisan forum for legislators in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas,
11	17		Oklahoma, and New Mexico to learn and collaborate on energy
12	18		policy and issues relevant to their constituents; the council has
13	19		expanded to include 14 member states and the Canadian Provinces
14	20		of Alberta and Saskatchewan that actively participate in the
15	21		development of state and federal energy and environmental
16	22		policy; and
17	23		WHEREAS, The Energy Council helps to inform lawmakers
18	24		about economic markets and emerging technology and practices
19	25		relating to an evolving energy landscape; its members utilize
20	26		their knowledge of global trends and policies to formulate
21	27		effective policy and to foster a comprehensive understanding of
22	28		energy and the environment; and
23	29		WHEREAS, For half a century, the Energy Council has
24	30		remained at the forefront of discourse on energy generation and
25	31		policy that shape Americans' daily lives, and its members are
26	32		truly deserving of recognition for upholding its commitment to
27	33		informed energy policy leadership; now, therefore, be it
28	34		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
29	35		Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Energy
30	36		Council and extend to them congratulations on the organization's
31	37		50th anniversary; and, be it further
32	38		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
33	39		the council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
