 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Renowned singer-songwriter, musician, and producer
 José Cantoral was named Mr. Amigo 2025 by the Mr. Amigo Association
 of Brownsville on January 27; and
 WHEREAS, Each year since 1964, the association has designated
 as "Mr. Amigo" an eminent Mexican citizen who has contributed to
 the enduring friendship between Brownsville and Matamoros,
 Tamaulipas, Mexico; and
 WHEREAS, A prominent figure in Latin music, Mr. Cantoral is
 best known for "José Pérez León," a song that was popularized by Los
 Tigres del Norte and was nominated for Best Regional Mexican Song at
 the Latin Grammy Awards, and additional favorites in his catalogue
 include "24 Horas," "Se Me Hizo Tarde," "Sigues," and "Media Vida";
 moreover, he composed "El Corrido de Miguel Rivera" for the
 Oscar-winning film Coco as well as music for hit telenovelas such as
 Lazos de Amor, El Precio de tu Amor, Mi Camino es Amarte, and Golpe
 de Suerte; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to his musical career, Mr. Cantoral is
 dedicated to arts education; he serves as the general director of
 the Instituto Cantoral, an organization committed to introducing
 children to the arts in an engaging and interactive manner; he
 follows his late father, Roberto Cantoral, and his sister, Itatí
 Cantoral, as a recipient of the Mr. Amigo honor; and
 WHEREAS, A role model for citizens of both Mexico and the
 United States, José Cantoral has made a lasting and positive
 difference in the Hispanic community, and he is indeed deserving of
 this prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
 hereby congratulate José Cantoral on his selection as Mr. Amigo
 2025 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Cantoral as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas Senate.
