8+ WHEREAS, Renowned singer-songwriter, musician, and producer
9+ José Cantoral was named Mr. Amigo 2025 by the Mr. Amigo Association
10+ of Brownsville on January 27; and
11+ WHEREAS, Each year since 1964, the association has designated
12+ as "Mr. Amigo" an eminent Mexican citizen who has contributed to
13+ the enduring friendship between Brownsville and Matamoros,
14+ Tamaulipas, Mexico; and
915 WHEREAS, A prominent figure in Latin music, Mr. Cantoral is
10- best known for "José Pérez León," a song that was popularized by
11- Los Tigres del Norte and was nominated for Best Regional Mexican
12- Song at the Latin Grammy Awards, and additional favorites in his
13- catalogue include "24 Horas," "Se Me Hizo Tarde," "Sigues," and
14- "Media Vida"; moreover, he composed "El Corrido de Miguel Rivera"
15- for the Oscar-winning film Coco as well as music for hit
16- telenovelas such as Lazos de Amor, El Precio de tu Amor, Mi Camino
17- es Amarte, and Golpe de Suerte; and

2329 Cantoral, as a recipient of the Mr. Amigo honor; and
2430 WHEREAS, A role model for citizens of both Mexico and the
2531 United States, José Cantoral has made a lasting and positive
26- difference in the Hispanic community, and he is indeed deserving
27- of this prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it
28- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
29- Legislature, hereby congratulate José Cantoral on his selection
30- as Mr. Amigo 2025 and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
31- future; and, be it further

33+ this prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it
34+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
