2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		recognize the members of the Limón family for their many
4	10		contributions to the Austin community; and
5	11		WHEREAS, José Limón migrated from Mexico in 1889 and
6	12		settled in Central Texas with his wife Bernavé to raise their 11
7	13		children; since then, the family has grown to around 5,000
8	14		members, and their influence is evident in many of the economic,
9	15		social, and political matters occurring in the Austin area; and
10	16		WHEREAS, Noted for their entrepreneurial expertise and
11	17		community activism to improve the lives of their neighbors, the
12	18		voices and livelihoods of Limón family members have helped to
13	19		create opportunities for countless Austinites to thrive; they
14	20		have played an integral role in the area for 135 years, and many
15	21		relatives still live in East Austin on or nearby their namesake
16	22		street, Calle Limón; and
17		-	WHEREAS, Each year, hundreds of Limónes gather for a ~~family~~
18		-	reunion to celebrate their rich history and to honor their ~~motto,~~
19		-	"Siempre Unidos", which has strengthened their family's ~~bond for~~
20		-	more than six generations; and

22	28		traditional values and family heritage they share, the members of
23	29		the Limón family have contributed greatly to Austin and to the
24	30		Lone Star State through their leadership, their civic
25	31		engagement, and their spirit of resilience, and it is truly
26		-	fitting that the family receive special ~~recognition~~ for all ~~they~~
27		-	have done to benefit their community; now, therefore, be it

28	34		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
29	35		Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Limón family for
30	36		their indominable spirit and the prominent role they have played

33	39		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
34	40		the family as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
