	7	+	SENATE RESOLUTION
2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		join the residents of Live Oak County in celebrating Live Oak
4	10		County Day at the State Capitol on March 11, 2025; and
5	11		WHEREAS, In the years before it became part of Texas, the
6	12		area now known as Live Oak County was home to Native American
7	13		tribes, Spanish and Mexican colonists, and Irish immigrants, and
8	14		this diversity of cultures greatly influenced the development of
9	15		the area; and
10	16		WHEREAS, Live Oak County was created on February 2, 1856,
11	17		from parts of San Patricio and Nueces Counties and was named
12	18		after the imposing and majestic tree that grew throughout much of
13	19		the region; the economy was initially driven by the raising of
14	20		sheep, cattle, and cotton, but it was diversified by the
15	21		discovery of oil and natural gas in the 1930s and uranium in the
16	22		1960s; in recent years, new technologies have improved the
17	23		extraction of valuable hydrocarbons from the Eagle Ford Shale
18	24		underlying the county; and
19	25		WHEREAS, The rugged beauty of Live Oak County's brushy
20	26		plains is complemented by the Frio, Nueces, and Atascosa Rivers,
21	27		and lovers of the Texas landscape are drawn to such attractions
22	28		as Lake Corpus Christi and Choke Canyon State Park; the town of
23	29		Three Rivers delights residents and visitors alike with
24	30		screenings at its historic Rialto Theatre, and other notable
25	31		communities include George West, the county seat, as well as
26	32		Dinero, Lagarto, Pernitas Point, and Whitsett; and
27	33		WHEREAS, Celebrating their rich and colorful history as
28	34		they work together to build a bright future, the citizens of Live
29	35		Oak County may take justifiable pride in the important role their
30	36		unique region continues to play in the story of the Lone Star
31	37		State; now, therefore, be it
32	38		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
33	39		Legislature, hereby recognize March 11, 2025, as Live Oak County
34	40		Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting delegation
35	41		sincere best wishes for an informative and enjoyable stay in
36	42		Austin; and, be it further
37	43		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
38	44		them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
