| 8 | 14 | | was selected as the county seat, and the county courthouse was |

| 9 | 15 | | completed in 1897; the impressive Romanesque Revival structure |

| 10 | 16 | | is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and was |
|---|
| 11 | 17 | | restored through the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation |

| 13 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Lavaca Historical Museum recounts the |

| 14 | 20 | | immigration of early Czech and German settlers to the area, whose |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | enduring cultural influence is displayed in the county's |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | beautiful painted churches and at the annual Kolache Fest; the |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | county is also known for hosting such events as the Fiddlers |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | Frolics competition and the Texas State Domino Championship, and |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | it is home to the famed Spoetzl Brewery that produces the |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | world-famous Shiner beer; and |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Ranching, agriculture, and the oil and gas |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | industries help shape the local economy, and Lavaca County |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | remains a state leader in the rearing of beef cattle; families |
|---|
| 24 | 30 | | benefit from quality educational opportunities and dedicated law |
|---|
| 25 | 31 | | enforcement personnel and volunteer fire fighters; and |
|---|
| 26 | 32 | | WHEREAS, A vibrant region with rich heritage, Lavaca |
|---|
| 27 | 33 | | County is a rural gem of the Lone Star State, and residents can |
|---|
| 28 | 34 | | take pride in their flourishing communities while looking |
|---|
| 29 | 35 | | forward to a bright and prosperous future; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|---|
| 31 | 37 | | Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Lavaca County for |
|---|
| 32 | 38 | | their many contributions to the Lone Star State and extend to |
|---|
| 33 | 39 | | them best wishes for a memorable Lavaca County Day at the |

| 34 | 40 | | Capitol; and, be it further |
