28 WHEREAS, Emily Ramirez of Lake Highlands High School in the
39 Richardson Independent School District has been named the 2025
4- International Educator of the Year by the World Affairs Council
5- of Dallas/Fort Worth; and
10+ International Educator of the Year by the World Affairs Council of
11+ Dallas/Fort Worth; and
612 WHEREAS, This award recognizes teachers and administrators
7- who go above and beyond their typical responsibilities in order
8- to expand their students' knowledge of world affairs and increase

915 opportunities for international learning; and
1016 WHEREAS, A distinguished educator with 13 years of
1117 experience, Ms. Ramirez currently teaches AP World History and
1218 Mexican American Studies at Lake Highlands High School; as the
1319 Junior World Affairs Council sponsor, she cocreated the Global
1420 Awareness Speaker Series, which brings experts in global health,
15- international business, diplomacy, and human rights to the
16- campus; she has also organized numerous supply drives and
17- disaster relief initiatives, and she regularly mentors students
18- during discussions of current events; and

23- selected for a WACDFW travel fellowship to Morocco in 2019, and
24- she was named the Teacher of the Year for her campus in 2022; in
25- addition, a number of her students have been selected as
26- recipients of the 20 Under 20 Award from the WACDFW, and the JWAC
27- program at Lake Highlands has garnered several awards, including
28- being ranked as a Top 10 JWAC for the past five years; and

3238 prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it
33- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
34- Legislature, hereby commend Emily Ramirez on her selection as the
35- 2025 International Educator of the Year by the World Affairs
36- Council of Dallas/Fort Worth and extend to her sincere best
37- wishes for the future; and, be it further
39+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
40+ hereby commend Emily Ramirez on her selection as the 2025
41+ International Educator of the Year by the World Affairs Council of
42+ Dallas/Fort Worth and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
43+ future; and, be it further
3844 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
