58 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on
6- January 21, 2025, with the passing of David Wayne Frost of
7- Longview at the age of 89; and
8- WHEREAS, The son of Henry Franklin Frost and Lena Mae
9- Pierce Frost, Wayne Frost was born in a farmhouse near Itasca in
10- 1935; he spent his formative years in the Rio Grande Valley,
11- graduating from Edinburg High School before going on to attend
12- Pan American Regional College and Texas Tech University; he
13- earned a degree in petroleum engineering from Texas Tech
14- University in 1958; and
9+ January 21, 2025, with the passing of David Wayne Frost of Longview
10+ at the age of 89; and
11+ WHEREAS, The son of Henry Franklin Frost and Lena Mae Pierce
12+ Frost, Wayne Frost was born in a farmhouse near Itasca in 1935; he
13+ spent his formative years in the Rio Grande Valley, graduating from
14+ Edinburg High School before going on to attend Pan American
15+ Regional College and Texas Tech University; he earned a degree in
16+ petroleum engineering from Texas Tech University in 1958; and
1517 WHEREAS, Following his graduation, Mr. Frost served in the
16- United States Army, and while stationed at Fort Gordon in
17- Augusta, Georgia, he met the love of his life, the former Freida
18- Hamilton Strauss; the couple exchanged vows on December 29, 1959,
19- and they went on to share a rewarding 65-year marriage; he took
20- great pride in their three children, Sharla, Shelly, and David,
21- and he had the pleasure of seeing his family eventually grow to
22- include nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and
23- WHEREAS, Mr. Frost began his 31-year tenure with the Sun
24- Oil Company as a petroleum engineer, working in the Rio Grande
25- Valley and Longview before receiving his final assignment as an
26- operations manager in Edmond, Oklahoma; active in his
27- communities, he served on the Pine Tree Independent School
28- District Board of Trustees and the Longview City Council, and he
29- also coached various youth sports; as the parents of three Baylor
30- alumni, he and his wife were involved with a number of the
31- school's organizations, and they were named "Baylor Parents of
32- the Year" in 1990; Mr. Frost was also a man of strong faith, and
33- he was a deacon, choir member, and Sunday school teacher at
34- churches in McAllen, Edmond, and Longview; and
35- WHEREAS, While the death of Wayne Frost brings
36- immeasurable sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a
37- record of service that will long be treasured by all those who
38- held him dear; now, therefore, be it
39- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
40- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of David Wayne Frost
41- and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to
42- his wife, Freida Frost; to his children, Sharla Frost Struffolino
43- and her husband, Mike, Shelly Frost Joseph and her husband,
44- George Eric, and David Wayne Frost Jr. and his wife, Lyndy; to
45- his brother, Charles Frost; to his grandchildren, Sydney Joseph
46- Brown, Elizabeth Struffolino Buscher, Sadie Joseph, Michael
47- Struffolino, Victoria Frost, Lauren Struffolino, George Aaron
48- Joseph, Caroline Frost, and David Anderson Frost; to his
49- great-grandchildren, Peyton, Mason, Wade, and Lily; and to his
50- other relatives and friends; and, be it further
