58 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
6- passing of James Rondal Burns of Pittsburg on February 3, 2025,
7- at the age of 83; and
9+ passing of James Rondal Burns of Pittsburg on February 3, 2025, at
10+ the age of 83; and
811 WHEREAS, The son of Oscar and Mary Sue Lainey Burns, James
912 Burns was born in Pittsburg on April 1, 1941; he grew up with the
10- companionship of his siblings, and he graduated from Pittsburg
11- High School in 1960; answering his nation's call to duty, he
12- served for three years as a member of the Army National Guard; and
13- WHEREAS, Mr. Burns distinguished himself over the course
14- of a successful career as a business owner; moreover, he was a
15- prominent member of the Thoroughbred Racehorse Association; and
16- WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Burns enjoyed the love
17- and support of his wife, Sue, with whom he shared a rewarding
18- marriage that spanned more than three decades; he was the devoted
19- father of six children, Kim, Kendal, Kyle, Dwaina, David, and
20- Daniel, and he took great pride in his 17 grandchildren and 12
13+ companionship of his siblings, and he graduated from Pittsburg High
14+ School in 1960; answering his nation's call to duty, he served for
15+ three years as a member of the Army National Guard; and
16+ WHEREAS, Mr. Burns distinguished himself over the course of a
17+ successful career as a business owner; moreover, he was a prominent
18+ member of the Thoroughbred Racehorse Association; and

20+ support of his wife, Sue, with whom he shared a rewarding marriage

2225 WHEREAS, Although James Burns will be deeply missed, he has
23- left his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will
24- forever treasure; now, therefore, be it
25- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
26- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Rondal
27- Burns and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his
28- family: to his wife, Sue Burns; to his children, Kim Pilgrim and
29- her husband, Mark, Kendal Burns and his wife, BuLinda, Kyle Burns
30- and his wife, Tina, Dwaina Kerr and her husband, Dave, David
31- McClure and his wife, Terri, and Daniel McClure and his wife,
32- Niki; to his grandchildren, Clayton, Blevin, Bryce, Kole,
33- Taylor, Brittany, Reid, Logan, Jessica, Garrett, Cristy, Drew,
34- Adam, Emily, Ian, Morgan, and Cade; to his great-grandchildren,
35- Caroline, Wyatt, Brayson, Braylee, Ashton, Beckham, Ainsley,
36- Emerson, Beaux, Lawson, Rory, and Parker; and to his other
37- relatives and friends; and, be it further

28+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
29+ hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Rondal Burns and extend
30+ heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Sue
31+ Burns; to his children, Kim Pilgrim and her husband, Mark, Kendal
32+ Burns and his wife, BuLinda, Kyle Burns and his wife, Tina, Dwaina
33+ Kerr and her husband, Dave, David McClure and his wife, Terri, and
34+ Daniel McClure and his wife, Niki; to his grandchildren, Clayton,

3840 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
39- prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
40- this day, it do so in memory of James Burns.
