5- WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and enthusiasm drew to a
6- close with the passing of Fred Lyndel Wilkinson of Tyler on
7- January 17, 2025, at the age of 94; and
8- WHEREAS, The son of Bill and Fauna Wilkinson, Fred
9- Wilkinson was born in Bogata on November 30, 1930, and as a youth,
10- he helped provide for his family by picking cotton at area farms;
11- a graduate of Bogata High School, he attended college in Paris
12- and Clarksville; in 1952, he was drafted by the U.S. Army and he
13- served his country for two years; and

8+ WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and enthusiasm drew to a close
9+ with the passing of Fred Lyndel Wilkinson of Tyler on January 17,
10+ 2025, at the age of 94; and
11+ WHEREAS, The son of Bill and Fauna Wilkinson, Fred Wilkinson
12+ was born in Bogata on November 30, 1930, and as a youth, he helped
13+ provide for his family by picking cotton at area farms; a graduate
14+ of Bogata High School, he attended college in Paris and
15+ Clarksville; in 1952, he was drafted by the U.S. Army and he served
16+ his country for two years; and
1417 WHEREAS, Mr. Wilkinson underwent training as a laboratory
1518 technician, and he spent most of his professional career at the
16- Medical & Surgical Clinic in Tyler; there, he met his future
17- wife, Mitzi Sanders, who worked at the clinic as a nurse; they
18- soon exchanged wedding vows, embarking on a journey together as
19- husband and wife that would span more than six decades; the
20- couple became the devoted parents of two children, Earl and
21- Rachel, and they eventually welcomed two grandchildren and a
22- great-grandchild into their family; Mr. Wilkinson was involved
23- in his children's school activities, and he volunteered as a Cub
24- Scout master and a Little League Baseball coach; and
25- WHEREAS, Following his retirement in 1993, Mr. Wilkinson
26- and his wife traveled across the world and the United States; a
27- valued congregant of Broadway Church of Christ, he took part in
28- the construction of its building on South Broadway Avenue, and he
29- laterservedasachurchdeaconandelder;moreover,hewas
30- beloved for his integrity and self-deprecating humor, and he
31- enjoyed gardening and watching the Dallas Cowboys; and

33- community, Fred Wilkinson earned the lasting respect and
34- admiration of all who were privileged to know him; now,
35- therefore, be it
36- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
37- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Fred Lyndel
38- Wilkinson and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his
39- family: to his wife, Mitzi Wilkinson; to his son, Earl Wilkinson;
40- to his daughter, Rachel Dingler; to his son-in-law, Bobby
41- Dingler; to his granddaughters, Chelsea and Chloe; to his
42- great-grandson, Ryker; and to his other relatives and friends;
43- and, be it further
36+ community, Fred Wilkinson earned the lasting respect and admiration
37+ of all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
38+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
39+ hereby pay tribute to the memory of Fred Lyndel Wilkinson and extend
40+ heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his wife,
41+ Mitzi Wilkinson; to his son, Earl Wilkinson; to his daughter,
