77 R E S O L U T I O N
88 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
99 memories of Theodore August Swenson Jr. of Bullard, who passed away
1010 on January 19, 2025, at the age of 92; and
1111 WHEREAS, Born in Tyler on December 7, 1932, Ted Swenson was
1212 the son of Theodore and Ella Mae Swenson, and he grew up with the
1313 companionship of his sister, Rubena; after attending schools in
1414 Tyler, he graduated from Kemper Military School in Boonville,
1515 Missouri, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the
1616 University of Houston; and
1717 WHEREAS, Mr. Swenson served in the United States Navy as an
1818 electronics technician aboard the USS Orion; he then embarked on
1919 his civilian career as a chemist, eventually working his way up to
2020 management for Dow Chemical in Freeport before retiring in 1990;
2121 and
2222 WHEREAS, Mr. Swenson married the former Esther Leigh in 1958,
2323 and they became the proud parents of two sons, Stuart and Danny;
2424 following Mrs. Swenson's passing in 1998, Mr. Swenson was
2525 fortunate enough to find love again with Martha Smith, whom he wed
2626 in 2000, and he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to
2727 include six stepchildren, Teresa, Mari, Gina, Michael, David, and
2828 Stephen; he also cherished his two granddaughters, Kaylene and
2929 Cassie, his great-granddaughter, Avery, and a host of
3030 step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; in his leisure
3131 time, he enjoyed spending time with his wife at their cabin in Lake
3232 City, Colorado, as well as playing golf, hunting, fishing, and
3333 traveling; he was a dedicated member of Marvin Methodist Church,
3434 where he served as an usher for two decades, and Emerald Bay
3535 Community Church; and
3636 WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Ted Swenson
3737 leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far
3838 richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured
3939 place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
4040 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
4141 hereby pay tribute to the life of Theodore August Swenson Jr. and
4242 extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it
4343 further
4444 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4545 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
4646 day, it do so in memory of Ted Swenson.
