8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |
---|
9 | 9 | | memories of Theodore August Swenson Jr. of Bullard, who passed away |
---|
10 | 10 | | on January 19, 2025, at the age of 92; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born in Tyler on December 7, 1932, Ted Swenson was |
---|
12 | 12 | | the son of Theodore and Ella Mae Swenson, and he grew up with the |
---|
13 | 13 | | companionship of his sister, Rubena; after attending schools in |
---|
14 | 14 | | Tyler, he graduated from Kemper Military School in Boonville, |
---|
15 | 15 | | Missouri, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the |
---|
16 | 16 | | University of Houston; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Swenson served in the United States Navy as an |
---|
18 | 18 | | electronics technician aboard the USS Orion; he then embarked on |
---|
19 | 19 | | his civilian career as a chemist, eventually working his way up to |
---|
20 | 20 | | management for Dow Chemical in Freeport before retiring in 1990; |
---|
21 | 21 | | and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Swenson married the former Esther Leigh in 1958, |
---|
23 | 23 | | and they became the proud parents of two sons, Stuart and Danny; |
---|
24 | 24 | | following Mrs. Swenson's passing in 1998, Mr. Swenson was |
---|
25 | 25 | | fortunate enough to find love again with Martha Smith, whom he wed |
---|
26 | 26 | | in 2000, and he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |
---|
27 | 27 | | include six stepchildren, Teresa, Mari, Gina, Michael, David, and |
---|
28 | 28 | | Stephen; he also cherished his two granddaughters, Kaylene and |
---|
29 | 29 | | Cassie, his great-granddaughter, Avery, and a host of |
---|
30 | 30 | | step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; in his leisure |
---|
31 | 31 | | time, he enjoyed spending time with his wife at their cabin in Lake |
---|
32 | 32 | | City, Colorado, as well as playing golf, hunting, fishing, and |
---|
33 | 33 | | traveling; he was a dedicated member of Marvin Methodist Church, |
---|
34 | 34 | | where he served as an usher for two decades, and Emerald Bay |
---|
35 | 35 | | Community Church; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Ted Swenson |
---|
37 | 37 | | leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far |
---|
38 | 38 | | richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured |
---|
39 | 39 | | place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
---|
41 | 41 | | hereby pay tribute to the life of Theodore August Swenson Jr. and |
---|
42 | 42 | | extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
---|
43 | 43 | | further |

44 | 44 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
---|
45 | 45 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
---|
46 | 46 | | day, it do so in memory of Ted Swenson. |
