| 7 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Created in 1997, Mariachi Nueva Generación is a |

| 8 | 14 | | musical ensemble course centered in tradition, performance, and |
|---|
| 9 | 15 | | competition that has established itself among the state's |
|---|
| 10 | 16 | | leading university mariachi groups; and |
|---|
| 11 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The acclaimed ensemble first earned top honors at |
|---|
| 12 | 18 | | Mariachi Extravaganza, the nation's largest mariachi |
|---|
| 13 | 19 | | competition, in 1999, and it since has earned numerous |
|---|
| 14 | 20 | | prestigious awards in the ensemble and solo divisions of the |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | annual event; and |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The talented leaders and students of Mariachi |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | Nueva Generación maintain a busy schedule of performances on |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | campus and at events in the region and offer a variety of mariachi |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | workshops and clinics to young Texans across the state, and Texas |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | State University is proud to host an annual concert and |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | instructional seminar series called Feria del Mariachi every |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | spring; and |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mariachi is woven deeply into the fabric of Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 30 | | history and culture; the exemplary performers of Mariachi Nueva |
|---|
| 25 | 31 | | Generación have made their university and the State of Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 32 | | proud while honoring a revered musical tradition, and they are |
|---|
| 27 | 33 | | truly deserving of special recognition for their achievements; |
|---|
| 28 | 34 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |

| 30 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members and instructors of Texas |

| 31 | 37 | | State University's Mariachi Nueva Generación for earning first |

| 32 | 38 | | place in the university division of the 2024 Mariachi |
