2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	9		recognize members of the Hindu faith who reside in Texas and all
4	10		who are joining in celebration of the occasion of Holi, which is
5	11		taking place on March 14, 2025; and
6	12		WHEREAS, Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, is a
7	13		Hindu spring festival and one of the most revered and joyous
8	14		holidays in India; it is celebrated across the world by more than
9	15		a billion people of diverse nationalities and religions to mark
10	16		the start of spring and to symbolize harmony, new beginnings, and
11	17		the triumph of good over evil; and
12	18		WHEREAS, The festival lasts for a night and a day and begins
13	19		on the evening of the last full moon of the Hindu lunar year,
14	20		typically in February or March; the celebration includes a bonfire,
15	21		and attendees gather to express merriment through song and dance to
16	22		overcome negativity in preparation for the new year; and
17	23		WHEREAS, The following day, people dress in white and join
18	24		together to cover each other with brightly colored water and
19	25		powders that represent the joy and enthusiasm of the festival; in
20	26		the evening, people gather with loved ones to enjoy festive foods
21	27		and to honor family, friends, and Hindu deities; and
22	28		WHEREAS, The origins of this jubilant festival can be traced
23	29		back many millennia, and the holiday is recognized and celebrated
24	30		throughout the world by people of all backgrounds who relate to the
25	31		festival's themes of love, renewal, and progress; and
26		-	WHEREAS, The celebration of Holi is a vibrant expression of

32	38		festivities of Holi best wishes for a rewarding and joyous
33	39		celebration; and, be it further
34	40		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
35	41		honor of this special occasion.
