| 6 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Located in southern Hidalgo County in the Rio |

| 7 | 13 | | Grande Valley, Palmview traces its heritage to the town of Mamie, |

| 8 | 14 | | which was established in 1904 as a stop along the Saint Louis, |
|---|
| 9 | 15 | | Brownsville and Mexico Railway; in 1972, a group of local |
|---|
| 10 | 16 | | residents led an initiative to create an autonomous community, |
|---|
| 11 | 17 | | and their efforts resulted in the establishment of the City of |
|---|
| 12 | 18 | | Palmview; and |
|---|
| 13 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In the years since, Palmview has experienced |
|---|
| 14 | 20 | | significant growth and is now home to more than 15,800 residents; |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | the community is situated between the busy retail areas of |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | central Hidalgo County and Starr County to the west; and |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Palmview's expansion has created a range of new |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | business opportunities, and the city's municipal development |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | district is working with entrepreneurs to spur further economic |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | activity; moreover, officials are devoted to enhancing services |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | to benefit the city's growing population and have cooperated with |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | agencies such as the Texas Water Development Board and the United |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | States Department of Housing and Urban Development to pursue |
|---|
| 24 | 30 | | infrastructure projects; and |
|---|
| 25 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Home to an engaged citizenry and city government, |
|---|
| 26 | 32 | | Palmview is building on its heritage of hard work and |
|---|
| 27 | 33 | | independence to prepare for a dynamic and prosperous future; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 34 | | therefore, be it |

| 29 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|---|
| 30 | 36 | | Legislature, hereby recognize March 19, 2025, as Palmview Day at |
