 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Sonora Bank is celebrating its 125th anniversary on
 March 18, 2025, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize the
 important role it has played in communities across the West Texas
 region and beyond; and
 WHEREAS, The institution traces its origins to 1900, when
 E. R. Jackson organized the First National Bank of Sonora; he was
 elected president during a meeting on May 3, and he was joined on
 the inaugural board of directors by W. L. Aldwell, E. F. Vander
 Stucken, W. E. Whitehead, George S. Allison, R. F. Halbert, and
 D. A. Cauthorn; the bank opened on August 15, 1900, operating
 inside two stores before the construction of a new building in 1928;
 initially serving local farmers, ranchers, and small businesses,
 the bank expanded its reach over time to meet the changing needs of
 the towns it served, and it exhibited tremendous resilience in
 withstanding financial challenges during such events as the Great
 Depression and World Wars I and II; and
 WHEREAS, Today, Sonora Bank encompasses 10 locations across
 West Texas and the Hill Country, including branches in Boerne,
 Bulverde, Hutto, New Braunfels, San Angelo, San Antonio, and
 Wimberley; benefiting from the leadership of its shareholders and
 its board of directors, which includes Bob Malone, Jamie Davis
 Mayer, Bridget Carr, Lindsay Johnson Cranek, Edward Earwood, Paul
 Mueller, and Besa Robison Martin, the bank helps create employment
 opportunities for residents while partnering with area
 organizations; moreover, it gives back to the community at large
 through its philanthropic efforts and support of civic programs;
 and
 WHEREAS, A beacon of reliability and trust, Sonora Bank has
 demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the people of the Lone Star
 State by fostering financial stability and prosperity across
 generations, and the foundation of good corporate citizenship on
 which it is built will help to ensure its existence well into the
 future; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
 hereby commemorate the 125th anniversary of Sonora Bank and extend
 to all those associated with the institution sincere best wishes
 for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Sonora Bank as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas Senate.
