28 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
39 recognize the Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home in Fort
4- Worth on the occasion of its grand opening, which is taking place on
5- March 22, 2025; and

612 WHEREAS, The Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home is
713 named in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen, an elite group of military
8- aviators who served with unparalleled distinction during World War
9- II; the Tuskegee Airmen were the first all-Black flying group in the
10- United States Armed Forces and completed more than 1,500 missions
11- across North Africa and Europe; and
12- WHEREAS, Known as the "Red Tails" for the iconic red markings
13- on their aircraft, these courageous airmen demonstrated
14+ aviators who served with unparalleled distinction during World
15+ War II; the Tuskegee Airmen were the first all-Black flying group
16+ in the United States Armed Forces and completed more than 1,500
17+ missions across North Africa and Europe; and
18+ WHEREAS, Known as the "Red Tails" for the iconic red
19+ markings on their aircraft, these courageous airmen demonstrated
1420 extraordinary skill and unwavering dedication to serving their
1521 country, and their efforts were honored with more than 150
1622 Distinguished Flying Cross awards, 60 Purple Hearts, and
1723 Congressional Gold Medals, among numerous other honors; and
18- WHEREAS, The Tuskegee Airmen not only displayed exceptional
19- skill and valor in combat but also played a pivotal role in breaking
20- racial barriers in the military and paved the way for greater
21- equality and opportunity in the United States; their dedication,
22- sacrifice, and heroism remain an enduring source of inspiration, and
23- every American owes these veterans a tremendous debt of gratitude;
24- and
24+ WHEREAS, The Tuskegee Airmen not only displayed

27+ way for greater equality and opportunity in the United States;
28+ their dedication, sacrifice, and heroism remain an enduring
29+ source of inspiration, and every American owes these veterans a

2531 WHEREAS, The Texas Veterans Land Board has long been
26- committed to ensuring that veterans receive the highest standard of
27- care, and the establishment of 10 Veterans Homes in Texas is a
32+ committed to ensuring that veterans receive the highest standard
33+ of care, and the establishment of 10 Veterans Homes in Texas is a
2834 continuation of that mission; this facility will provide skilled
2935 nursing care for 120 veterans in four distinct wings, including a
3036 specialized memory support unit for veterans with Alzheimer's
3137 disease or dementia; and
32- WHEREAS, The home will also provide a wide range of programs
33- including physical, speech, and occupational therapy and will
34- offer such alternative therapies as animal, art, music, and writing
35- therapy; this holistic approach ensures that veterans receive not
36- only the medical treatment they require but also the relational
37- support and enrichment they need to enjoy their golden years; and
38+ WHEREAS, The home will also provide a wide range of

4148 opening of a facility devoted to caring for the veterans who have
4249 so honorably defended the freedoms we hold dear; now, therefore,

4451 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
4552 Legislature, hereby honor the Tuskegee Airmen and commemorate
4653 the opening of the Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home in
4754 Fort Worth; and, be it further
4855 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
4956 honor of this special occasion.
