28 WHEREAS, The Texas Masonry Hall of Fame is inducting Mackie
39 Bounds, Kevin Camarata, Dennis Knautz, and Mel Oller on March 20,
410 2025, in a ceremony conducted at the Alamo in San Antonio; and
511 WHEREAS, A towering figure in Texas commercial masonry for
612 more than four decades, Mackie Bounds joined Al Brown Masonry in
713 1980; he went on to shape the industry as a founding member and
8- president of the Central Texas Masonry Contractors Association;
9- in addition, he has served as president of the Texas Construction
14+ president of the Central Texas Masonry Contractors Association; in
15+ addition, he has served as president of the Texas Construction
1016 Association, Mason Contractors Association of America, and Texas
1117 Masonry Council; he has been a tireless, visionary advocate for
1218 masonry and oversaw the creation of the Masonry Rocks workforce
13- development program, which has introduced thousands of high
14- school students to the trade; and
15- WHEREAS, Kevin Camarata has advanced Texas masonry over
16- the course of four decades; as CEO of Camarata Masonry Systems,
17- he built one of the nation's largest firms, which has redrawn
18- Houston's skyline with such iconic projects as Enron Field and
19- Rice University; he served as president of the board of TMC and
20- authored key bylaws and fostered supplier engagement;
21- recognizing the importance of workforce development, he
22- championed training programs through Construction Career
23- Collaborative; he also guided industry best practices through
24- involvement with MCAA and the Associated Masonry Contractors of
25- Houston; and
26- WHEREAS, A pioneering architect of today's TMC, Dennis
27- Knautz changed the industry's landscape through his steadfast
28- commitment to corporate responsibility; during a career with
29- Acme Brick spanning over four decades, he helped orchestrate the
30- merger of TMC and the Southwest Brick Institute, resulting in a
31- strong funding framework for statewide growth and advocacy;
32- moreover, he has encouraged leadership from major manufacturers,
33- championed masonry ordinances, and guided organizations through
34- challenging times; and
19+ development program, which has introduced thousands of high school
20+ students to the trade; and
21+ WHEREAS, Kevin Camarata has advanced Texas masonry over the
22+ course of four decades; as CEO of Camarata Masonry Systems, he built

25+ University; he served as president of the board of TMC and authored

3540 WHEREAS, Mel Oller has strengthened professional
3641 associations through careful financial stewardship and steadfast
3742 devotion; he has served twice as TMC president, and he is a former
38- president of the Associated Masonry Contractors of Houston as
39- well; through national ASTM committees, he has been a powerful
40- voice for fair codes; a trained union bricklayer turned
41- estimator, he revived vital cost guides, and he has worked to
42- preserve industry history; in addition, he has mentored and
43- taught countless younger masons; and
44- WHEREAS, Generously sharing their time and expertise,
45- these inductees have elevated the masonry construction industry
46- across the Lone Star State, and in so doing, they have inspired
47- others to uphold a tradition of excellence and innovation; now,
48- therefore, be it
49- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
50- Legislature, hereby congratulate Mackie Bounds, Kevin Camarata,
51- Dennis Knautz, and Mel Oller on their induction in the Texas
52- Masonry Hall of Fame and extend to them sincere best wishes for
53- the future; and, be it further
54- RESOLVED, That official copies of this Resolution be
55- prepared for the inductees as an expression of high regard from
56- the Texas Senate.
