58 WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Lamar Oslin Lewis of
69 Temple were deeply saddened by his death on March 9, 2025, at the
710 age of 71; and
8- WHEREAS, The son of Benny Lee and Wilma Lewis, Lamar Lewis
9- was born on January 17, 1954, and he grew up with the
10- companionship of three siblings, Benny, Russell, and Penelope;
11- after graduating from Academy High School in 1972, he attended
12- Temple Junior College, and he received a bachelor's degree in
13- political science from Baylor University in 1976; and
14- WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis enjoyed a rewarding 33-year career as
15- an educator, coach, and athletic director at a number of Texas
16- public schools; following his retirement from Bandera High in
17- 2013, he served as district director in the office of State
18- Representative Hugh Shine, and he ran for a seat in the Texas
19- Senate in 2021; and
20- WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Lewis benefited from
21- the love and support of his wife, Colleen, with whom he shared a
22- fulfilling marriage that spanned five decades; he took great
23- pride in his three children, Lindsay, Lauren, and Lamar, and over
24- the years, he welcomed into his family seven grandchildren,
25- Dobie, Hazel, Bonnie, Doris, Penelope, Brazos, and Birdy; and

2729 leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far

2931 place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
30- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
31- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lamar Oslin
32- Lewis and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family:
33- to his wife, Doris Colleen Tomlin Lewis; to his wife's parents,
34- Walter and Doris Tomlin; to his brothers, Benny Frank Lewis and
35- his wife, Pamela, and Russell Lewis and his wife, Cassandra; to
36- his children, Lindsay Penelope Illich and her husband, Craig,
37- Lauren Elizabeth Brisbin and her husband, Robert, and Lamar
38- Tomlin Lewis and his wife, Emily; to his grandchildren, Dobie
39- Boone Illich, Hazel Barrett Meister, Bonnie Blue Lewis, Doris Mae
40- Lewis, Penelope Kathryn Brisbin, and Brazos Dabney Lewis; and to
41- his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
32+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
33+ hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lamar Oslin Lewis and extend
34+ heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Doris
35+ Colleen Tomlin Lewis; to his wife's parents, Walter and Doris
36+ Tomlin; to his brothers, Benny Frank Lewis and his wife, Pamela, and
37+ Russell Lewis and his wife, Cassandra; to his children, Lindsay
38+ Penelope Illich and her husband, Craig, Lauren Elizabeth Brisbin
39+ and her husband, Robert, and Lamar Tomlin Lewis and his wife, Emily;
40+ to his grandchildren, Dobie Boone Illich, Hazel Barrett Meister,
41+ Bonnie Blue Lewis, Doris Mae Lewis, Penelope Kathryn Brisbin, and
42+ Brazos Dabney Lewis; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be

4244 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
43- prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
44- this day, it do so in memory of Lamar Lewis.
