28 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Small Business Development
39 Center Network are celebrating Texas Small Business Development
410 Center Day on March 19, 2025; and
5- WHEREAS, The Texas SBDC Network is part of America's SBDC,
6- a national program established by the Small Business Development
7- Center Act of 1979, which was first introduced in the U.S. Senate
8- in March 1977 before its passage two years later; since its
9- inception, America's SBDC has grown to include approximately
10- 1,000 service centers and more than 5,000 professional business
11- advisors who provide personalized and confidential assistance to
12- small business owners; today, the Texas SBDC encompasses four
13- lead offices at universities and colleges across the state and
14- over 40 field and specialty centers in urban and rural areas; and
11+ WHEREAS, The Texas SBDC Network is part of America's SBDC, a
12+ national program established by the Small Business Development
13+ Center Act of 1979, which was first introduced in the U.S. Senate in
14+ March 1977 before its passage two years later; since its inception,
15+ America's SBDC has grown to include approximately 1,000 service
16+ centers and more than 5,000 professional business advisors who
17+ provide personalized and confidential assistance to small business
18+ owners; today, the Texas SBDC encompasses four lead offices at
19+ universities and colleges across the state and over 40 field and
20+ specialty centers in urban and rural areas; and
1521 WHEREAS, For more than four decades, the Texas SBDC has
16- provided business consulting at no cost to clients and has
17- offered affordable training to guide small businesses through
18- every stage of development; in 2024, the organization helped
19- businesses access over $421 million in financing; moreover, it is
20- estimated that the network's efforts in the past year saved or
21- created more than 33,000 jobs, and companies affiliated with the
22- organization generated approximately $703 million in new sales
23- and over $81 million in tax revenue; and
24- WHEREAS, The Texas SBDC Network has contributed
25- immeasurably to the success of numerous new and existing
26- companies, and in so doing, it has greatly enhanced the economic
27- prosperity of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
28- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
29- Legislature, hereby recognize March 19, 2025, as Texas Small
30- Business Development Center Day and extend to all those
31- associated with the Texas Small Business Development Center
32- Network sincere best wishes for a memorable and enjoyable
33- celebration; and, be it further
