13 | 20 | | WHEREAS, In the previous 45 years, Fred has served as a |

14 | 21 | | news anchor, reporter, and producer for several major news |
---|
15 | 22 | | affiliates, and he earned a reputation as "the most affable and |
---|
16 | 23 | | unassuming news anchor in the River City" during his tenure on |
---|
17 | 24 | | KVUE's "Daybreak" morning broadcast from 1995 to 2001; he moved |

18 | 25 | | to the CBS affiliate KEYE in 2002 as the first male anchor at |

19 | 26 | | Telemundo Austin, and he is retiring from CBS Austin News after |
---|
20 | 27 | | more than two decades with the station; and |
---|
21 | 28 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed television personality shaped his |
---|
22 | 29 | | exemplary career through an uncompromising work ethic and by |
---|
23 | 30 | | upholding the highest standards of journalistic integrity; his |

24 | 31 | | colleagues admire him as an insightful local historian and a |
---|
25 | 32 | | measured, calming presence in the newsroom; and |

29 | 36 | | understanding of their communities and the world, and his |

30 | 37 | | presence on the Austin airwaves will be greatly missed; now, |

32 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |

33 | 40 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Fred Cantú for his exemplary |
