2	8		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3		-	recognize February 3, 2025, as 9-1-1 Day at the State Capitol; and
	9	+	recognize February 3, 2025, as 9-1-1 Day at the State Capitol;
	10	+	and
4	11		WHEREAS, 9-1-1 is the nationally recognized number to call
5	12		in an emergency for immediate help from the police, fire
6	13		department, or emergency medical services, and public safety
7	14		communicators are the frontline of our first responders, upon
8	15		whom the safety and rescue of Texas citizens depends; and
9		-	WHEREAS, Public safety telecommunicators provide the ~~vital~~
10		-	link between people calling for help and the public safety
	16	+	WHEREAS, Public safety telecommunicators provide the
	17	+	vital link between people calling for help and the public safety
11	18		agencies with which they communicate; the heroic operators serve
12	19		callers at more than 500 public safety answering points; and
13	20		WHEREAS, Public safety telecommunicators are responsible
14	21		for dispatching essential life-saving teams to the correct
15	22		location as quickly as possible; the operators must continually
16	23		learn and adapt to new 9-1-1 technology to meet the needs of the
17	24		residents of Texas and of the rescue teams; and
18	25		WHEREAS, While the Texas chapters of the National
19	26		Emergency Number Association and the Association of Public
20	27		Safety Officials represent telecommunicators, directors,
21	28		planning professionals, and industry service providers, it is
22	29		crucial that policymakers at all levels of government understand
23	30		the importance of 9-1-1, the intricacies of the current system,
24	31		and the necessary steps for the ongoing modernization of the
25	32		9-1-1 system in Texas; now, therefore, be it
26	33		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
27	34		Legislature, hereby recognize February 3, 2025, as 9-1-1 Day at
28	35		the State Capitol and commend all public safety
29	36		telecommunicators on their invaluable service to the Lone Star
30	37		State; and, be it further
31	38		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
32	39		them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
