| 5 | 11 | | of a fellow Texan; and |
|---|
| 6 | 12 | | WHEREAS, While traveling home on the night of February 22, |
|---|
| 7 | 13 | | 2025, Deputy Mike Aleman observed flames and smoke emerging from |
|---|
| 8 | 14 | | a mobile home in McAllen; though he was off-duty at the time, when |
|---|
| 9 | 15 | | he learned of a person inside the burning home, he forced entry |
|---|
| 10 | 16 | | and was able to pull a man to safety from the intense smoke and |
|---|
| 11 | 17 | | heat of the fire; the McAllen Fire Department arrived shortly |
|---|
| 12 | 18 | | after, and Deputy Aleman and the victim were transported to a |
|---|
| 13 | 19 | | local hospital where the deputy was treated for smoke inhalation |
|---|
| 14 | 20 | | and released; and |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Thanks to the quick thinking and decisive action |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | of Deputy Aleman, the victim survived the deadly fire and was |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | transported to San Antonio to receive further treatment for burns |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | and smoke inhalation; the mobile home was consumed by the fire |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | and declared a total loss, and the incident undoubtedly would |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | have proved fatal if not for Deputy Aleman's critical and timely |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | rescue of the victim; and |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Aleman has faced the unique challenges of |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | law enforcement duty with courage and professionalism, and his |
|---|
| 24 | 30 | | selfless actions in this life-threatening situation reflect his |
|---|
| 25 | 31 | | unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the public; for |
|---|
| 26 | 32 | | his heroic efforts, he will be awarded the Hidalgo County |
|---|
| 27 | 33 | | Sheriff's Office Medal of Valor and will receive a commendation |
|---|
| 28 | 34 | | from the McAllen Fire Department in recognition of his |
|---|
| 29 | 35 | | exceptional service in the line of duty; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|---|
| 31 | 37 | | Legislature, hereby commend Senior Deputy Mike Aleman on his |
|---|
| 32 | 38 | | admirable and courageous actions that saved the life of a fellow |
|---|
| 33 | 39 | | Texan; and, be it further |

| 34 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
