2- WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join
3- the citizens of Arlington and Texans throughout the state in
4- celebrating the grand opening of the National Medal of Honor Museum

7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
8+ WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
9+ join the citizens of Arlington and Texans throughout the state in
10+ celebrating the grand opening of the National Medal of Honor
11+ Museum in Arlington on March 25, 2025; and
612 WHEREAS, The highest military decoration awarded by the
713 United States Armed Forces, the Medal of Honor is bestowed upon
8- American soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, guardians, and coast
9- guardsmen who have distinguished themselves for acts of valor,
10- conspicuous gallantry, and intrepidity at the risk of life above
11- and beyond the call of duty; and
12- WHEREAS, The Medal of Honor was established under President
13- Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and was first awarded on March
14- 25, 1863; since that time, an estimated 40 million men and women
15- have served in the United States Armed Forces, and fewer than 4,000
16- have received this prestigious accolade; and
17- WHEREAS, Today, there are 61 living recipients of the Medal
18- of Honor across the United States, and the nine recipients who
19- currently reside in Texas are Patrick Brady, Florent Groberg, Sal
20- Giunta, Michael Thornton, Jose Rodela, Ty Carter, James Fleming,
21- Dakota Meyer, and Robert O'Malley; these loyal patriots served
22- their country in times of need, and they have each demonstrated
23- extraordinary bravery and steadfast commitment to defending our
24- nation; and

3037 WHEREAS, Those who have been awarded the Medal of Honor
3138 have set an exceptional example of courage and selfless service,
3239 and the National Medal of Honor Museum is a fitting tribute to
3340 their inspiring legacy; now, therefore, be it
3441 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
3542 Legislature, hereby commemorate the opening of the National
3643 Medal of Honor museum in Arlington and extend to Medal of Honor
3744 recipients in Texas sincere gratitude for their heroic service;
3845 and, be it further
3946 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4047 the museum as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
