28 WHEREAS, The Texas Forestry Association is sponsoring a
39 seedling giveaway at the State Capitol on April 2, 2025, in an
4- effort to promote public awareness of the importance of our
5- state's timber resources; and

612 WHEREAS, Each year, family forest owners and timberland
7- investors plant 83 million seedlings to help maintain
8- sustainable forests for future generations of Texans; and

915 WHEREAS, The forest sector in Texas covers more than
1016 12 million acres and directly employs over 70,000 people, with a
1117 total economic impact of more than $41.6 billion, making timber a
1218 valuable agricultural commodity statewide; Texas loggers harvest
1319 over 18 million tons of trees and haul more than 642,000 loads of
1420 wood from timberlands to mills for conversion into affordable and
1521 sustainable products; and
16- WHEREAS, Forests in the Lone Star State sequester 58,836
17- tons of carbon from the atmosphere every day, equivalent to the
18- amount emitted by 11,603 passenger vehicles in an entire year;
19- moreover, one ton of carbon is converted into lumber and paper
20- products every 6.27 seconds; and
22+ WHEREAS, Forests in the Lone Star State sequester 58,836 tons
23+ of carbon from the atmosphere every day, equivalent to the amount
24+ emitted by 11,603 passenger vehicles in an entire year; moreover,
25+ one ton of carbon is converted into lumber and paper products every
26+ 6.27 seconds; and
2127 WHEREAS, Founded in 1914 by a group of dedicated
2228 conservationists, the Texas Forestry Association is a nonprofit
23- organization committed to advancing forestry management,
24- promoting conservation practices, and supporting and protecting
25- the interests of the working forests of Texas; TFA offers
26- programs such as the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and tree
27- farm certification to educate the public and encourage
28- reforestation, with the understanding that best management
29- practices are essential for productive forests; and
30- WHEREAS, The Texas Forestry Association works to ensure
31- that abundant forests remain a dependable resource for the
32- citizens of Texas, providing clean air and water, supporting
33- diverse wildlife habitats, and helping to maintain a robust
34- economy, and the organization has long contributed to the
35- economic vitality and beauty of the Lone Star State; now,
36- therefore, be it
37- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
38- Legislature, hereby recognize the Texas Forestry Association on
39- the occasion of its seedling giveaway at the State Capitol and
40- extend a warm welcome to the visiting delegation; and, be it
41- further
29+ organization committed to advancing forestry management, promoting
30+ conservation practices, and supporting and protecting the
31+ interests of the working forests of Texas; TFA offers programs such
32+ as the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and tree farm certification
33+ to educate the public and encourage reforestation, with the

36+ WHEREAS, The Texas Forestry Association works to ensure that
37+ abundant forests remain a dependable resource for the citizens of
38+ Texas, providing clean air and water, supporting diverse wildlife
39+ habitats, and helping to maintain a robust economy, and the
40+ organization has long contributed to the economic vitality and
41+ beauty of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
42+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
43+ hereby recognize the Texas Forestry Association on the occasion of
44+ its seedling giveaway at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome
45+ to the visiting delegation; and, be it further
4246 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
