 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Lufkin High School Panther Band continued its
 proud tradition of excellence by claiming the Class 5A/6A state
 championship at the 2024 University Interscholastic League State
 Military Class Marching Band Contest on October 30; and
 WHEREAS, Joining other top competitors from across the Lone
 Star State at Baylor University McLane Stadium in Waco, the Lufkin
 High band members achieved a total score of nine ordinals to take
 home the coveted state title; for the competition, the ensemble
 performed "Legacy Fanfare" by Timothy Rhea, "Gloria March" by
 F. H. Losey, "The Viking March" and "The Purple Pageant March" by
 K. L. King, and "The Sinfonians" by Clifton Williams; and
 WHEREAS, This latest victory marks the third consecutive
 state championship for the Panther Band; Lufkin High also collected
 National Association of Military Marching Bands state titles in
 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019 before the UIL began sponsoring the
 state event; and
 WHEREAS, The Panther Band is made up of 139 students;
 throughout the year, these talented performers benefit from the
 leadership of Lufkin High School's band director, George Little,
 and assistant directors Brandon Beavers, Aubrianne Wattigney,
 Tommy Smith, Hannah Terral, and Jonathan Palomino; participants
 also took their cues from drum majors Lucy Lantis and Maddie Minter;
 and
 WHEREAS, By accomplishing the rare feat of winning three
 consecutive state titles, the members of the Lufkin High School
 Panther Band have burnished their reputation as a marching band
 dynasty, and their accomplishments are a source of great pride to
 their school and their many supporters in the community; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
 hereby congratulate the Lufkin High School Panther Band on winning
 the 5A/6A championship at the 2024 UIL State Military Class
 Marching Band Contest and extend to all those associated with the
 ensemble sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Panther Band as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas Senate.
