2	8		WHEREAS, The Lufkin High School Panther Band continued its
3	9		proud tradition of excellence by claiming the Class 5A/6A state
4	10		championship at the 2024 University Interscholastic League State
5	11		Military Class Marching Band Contest on October 30; and
6	12		WHEREAS, Joining other top competitors from across the Lone
7	13		Star State at Baylor University McLane Stadium in Waco, the Lufkin
8	14		High band members achieved a total score of nine ordinals to take
9	15		home the coveted state title; for the competition, the ensemble
10	16		performed "Legacy Fanfare" by Timothy Rhea, "Gloria March" by
11	17		F. H. Losey, "The Viking March" and "The Purple Pageant March" by
12	18		K. L. King, and "The Sinfonians" by Clifton Williams; and
13	19		WHEREAS, This latest victory marks the third consecutive
14	20		state championship for the Panther Band; Lufkin High also collected
15	21		National Association of Military Marching Bands state titles in
16	22		2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019 before the UIL began sponsoring the
17	23		state event; and
18	24		WHEREAS, The Panther Band is made up of 139 students;
19	25		throughout the year, these talented performers benefit from the
20		-	leadership of Lufkin High School's band director, George Little, and
21		-	assistant directors Brandon Beavers, Aubrianne Wattigney, Tommy
22		-	Smith, Hannah Terral, and Jonathan Palomino; participants also took
23		-	their cues from drum majors Lucy Lantis and Maddie Minter; and
	26	+	leadership of Lufkin High School's band director, George Little,
	27	+	and assistant directors Brandon Beavers, Aubrianne Wattigney,
	28	+	Tommy Smith, Hannah Terral, and Jonathan Palomino; participants
	29	+	also took their cues from drum majors Lucy Lantis and Maddie Minter;
	30	+	and
24	31		WHEREAS, By accomplishing the rare feat of winning three
25	32		consecutive state titles, the members of the Lufkin High School
26	33		Panther Band have burnished their reputation as a marching band
27	34		dynasty, and their accomplishments are a source of great pride to
28	35		their school and their many supporters in the community; now,
29	36		therefore, be it
30		-	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the ~~State of~~ Texas~~, 89th~~
31		-	~~Legislature,~~ hereby congratulate the Lufkin High School Panther
32		-	~~Band on winning~~ the 5A/6A championship at the 2024 UIL State
33		-	~~Military Class~~ Marching Band Contest and extend to all those
34		-	~~associated with the~~ ensemble sincere best wishes for continued
35		-	~~success; and, be it~~ further
