2		-	WHEREAS, Texas Retired Teachers Association Day at the
3		-	State Capitol is taking place on March 26, 2025, providing a
4		-	fitting opportunity to honor the organization's executive
5		-	director, Tim Lee, for his 21 years of collaboration with the
6		-	Texas Legislature; and
7		-	WHEREAS, Mr. Lee took the helm of TRTA in 2004, and under
8		-	his able guidance, the organization has helped to enhance
9		-	benefits for members of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas;
10		-	over the course of his tenure, he has tirelessly advocated for
11		-	protecting the system's defined benefit pension plan, and he has
12		-	worked with the Texas Legislature to develop a pension trust
13		-	fund, reduce health care costs, and issue cost-of-living
14		-	adjustments as well as supplemental checks; at the federal level,
15		-	he played an instrumental role in supporting the Social Security
16		-	Fairness Act, H.R. 82, which repealed the Windfall Elimination
17		-	Provision and Government Pension Offset; he also authors TRTA's
18		-	email newsletter, The Inside Line, and he is a featured writer
19		-	for the organization's quarterly publication, The VOICE; and
20		-	WHEREAS, A former executive director of the Illinois
21		-	Retired Teachers Association, Mr. Lee draws on more than a
22		-	quarter century of experience with public pension policy; he has
23		-	served on a number of state legislative panels and gubernatorial
24		-	commissions, and he has participated in forums with legislative
25		-	leaders; renowned as a passionate speaker and energetic leader,
26		-	he has attended numerous professional conferences; he is a
27		-	graduate of Illinois State University; and
28		-	WHEREAS, Over the past 21 years, Tim Lee has distinguished
29		-	himself as a dedicated champion for Texas educators, and his
30		-	accomplishments have earned the deep admiration and appreciation
31		-	of his colleagues and fellow citizens alike; now, therefore, be it
32		-	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
33		-	Legislature, hereby congratulate Tim Lee on his 21st anniversary
34		-	of working with the Texas Legislature and extend to him sincere
35		-	best wishes for continued success in his important work; and, be
36		-	it further
37		-	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
38		-	prepared for Mr. Lee as an expression of high regard from the
39		-	Texas Senate.
