SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 341 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Sherry Wilkie-Conway on her recent retirement from her role as chief operating officer of the Texas Health Institute after nearly three decades of service in public health administration with the organization; and WHEREAS, Sherry Wilkie-Conway has long been a leader in the advancement of public health in Texas, and her diligence and dedication have benefited countless Texans as well as her colleagues and fellow leaders at the Texas Health Institute; and WHEREAS, Sherry served with distinction as an office manager and committee clerk for a number of legislators at the Texas Capitol before joining the Texas Health Institute in 1996 as a program services manager; in this role, she provided administrative assistance to the president of the institute and served as a liaison to the board, in addition to responsibilities including budget and staff oversight; and WHEREAS, In 2007, Sherry was promoted to serve as vice president of administration, personnel, and operations, and she served admirably in this role for more than two years before being named chief operating officer in January of 2010; during her tenure, she managed the company's daily operations, human resources, and grant and contract management with exceptional expertise, and she ably guided the institute in its mission to utilize research and data to increase access to health care and to drive health equity in the state; and WHEREAS, Widely respected and admired for her effective leadership and prudent administration, Sherry has been a valuable asset to the institute and a respected and admired administrator by her colleagues, and it is indeed fitting that she receive special recognition on her outstanding contributions to the health and well-being of the residents of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby commend Sherry Wilkie-Conway on her distinguished career and service as chief operating officer of the Texas Health Institute and extend to her congratulations on her retirement and best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
