| 7 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Vietnam War was one of the longest military |

| 8 | 14 | | conflicts in United States history; three million Americans |
|---|
| 9 | 15 | | served in Southeast Asia during the war, and more than 58,000 |
|---|
| 10 | 16 | | made the ultimate sacrifice, including 3,416 Texans; and |
|---|
| 13 | 19 | | Legislature of the State of Texas passed House Concurrent |
|---|
| 14 | 20 | | Resolution 36, which called for the construction of a monument on |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | the Capitol grounds to pay tribute to those who took part in the |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | conflict; the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument was |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | dedicated on March 29, 2014; and |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The men and women who served the nation during the |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | Vietnam War embodied the highest standards of courage, |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | sacrifice, and devotion to duty, and their heroic actions set a |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | lasting example that will live forever in the annals of American |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | history; and |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that these brave veterans be |
|---|
| 24 | 30 | | recognized for their patriotism and their service on behalf of |
|---|
| 25 | 31 | | the nation as Texans across the state observe National Vietnam |
|---|
| 26 | 32 | | War Veterans Day; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
