7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
28 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
39 recognize the members of the United States Armed Forces who so
410 honorably served our nation during the Vietnam War and to pay
511 tribute to them on the occasion of National Vietnam War Veterans
612 Day on March 29, 2025; and
713 WHEREAS, The Vietnam War was one of the longest military
814 conflicts in United States history; three million Americans
915 served in Southeast Asia during the war, and more than 58,000
1016 made the ultimate sacrifice, including 3,416 Texans; and
11- WHEREAS, In recognition of the service and sacrifice of the
12- thousands of Texans who served in the Vietnam War, the 79th
17+ WHEREAS, In recognition of the service and sacrifice of
18+ the thousands of Texans who served in the Vietnam War, the 79th
1319 Legislature of the State of Texas passed House Concurrent
1420 Resolution 36, which called for the construction of a monument on
1521 the Capitol grounds to pay tribute to those who took part in the
1622 conflict; the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument was
1723 dedicated on March 29, 2014; and
1824 WHEREAS, The men and women who served the nation during the
1925 Vietnam War embodied the highest standards of courage,
2026 sacrifice, and devotion to duty, and their heroic actions set a
2127 lasting example that will live forever in the annals of American
2228 history; and
2329 WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that these brave veterans be
2430 recognized for their patriotism and their service on behalf of
2531 the nation as Texans across the state observe National Vietnam
2632 War Veterans Day; now, therefore, be it
2733 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
2834 Legislature, hereby commend the veterans of the United States
2935 Armed Forces who served during the Vietnam War on their
3036 extraordinary service to their nation; and, be it further
3137 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
3238 honor of their great dedication and their sacrifice.
