58 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
69 memories of Jonathan David Corder of Levelland, who tragically
710 passed away on October 27, 2022, at the age of 41; and
811 WHEREAS, The son of David and Sylvia Corder, Jon Corder was
912 born in El Cajon, California, on August 27, 1981, and he grew up
1013 with two siblings, Jessica and Jeremy; following his graduation
1114 from Levelland High School, he lived in San Marcos and Buda; and
12- WHEREAS, In 2020, Mr. Corder moved back to Levelland,
13- where he began working as an animal control officer for the
14- city's police department; he distinguished himself in his
15- responsibilities of investigating animal cruelty and neglect,
16- saving animals, helping to find them homes, and addressing a
17- range of other animal-related concerns; additionally, he was
18- engaged in providing community support and outreach, and he
19- earned a reputation for always going above and beyond in his
20- duties; he and his partner, Crystal Goforth, were responding to a
21- call on October 13, 2022, when their work truck was struck by
22- another vehicle; Mr. Corder and Mrs. Goforth died from the
23- injuries they sustained in the collision, and their dedicated
24- service has continued to inspire an outpouring of prayers and
25- sympathy from the community; at the time of his death, Mr. Corder
26- was attending college with the goal of becoming an addiction
27- counselor; and

36- hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
37- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
38- Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jonathan David
39- Corder and extend deepest condolences to the members of his
40- family: to his son, Cole Corder; to his parents, David and Sylvia
41- Corder; to his sister, Jessica Corder, her husband, Steven
42- Brantley, and their children, Mersaydes, Matheu, and Addison; to
43- his brother, Jeremy Corder, his wife, Courtney, and their
44- children, Eloise and B. M.; to his grandmother, Mary Hernandez;
45- to his uncles and aunts, Jr. Hernandez and his wife, Sherry, Rick
46- Hernandez and his wife, Renee Edwards, Patrick Hernandez, Margie
47- Butcher and her husband, Randy, Joe Hernandez and his wife,
48- Norma, David Hernandez, John Corder and his wife, Tammy, Cheryl
49- Mauler, Jane Gray, and Susan Dillon; and to his many other
50- relatives and friends; and, be it further
35+ WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Jon Corder will
36+ remember the way he touched their lives with his love of animals and
37+ his giving and compassionate nature, and he will always hold a
38+ treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
39+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
40+ hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jonathan David Corder and extend
41+ deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his son, Cole
42+ Corder; to his parents, David and Sylvia Corder; to his sister,
43+ Jessica Corder, her husband, Steven Brantley, and their children,
44+ Mersaydes, Matheu, and Addison; to his brother, Jeremy Corder, his
45+ wife, Courtney, and their children, Eloise and B. M.; to his
46+ grandmother, Mary Hernandez; to his uncles and aunts, Jr. Hernandez
47+ and his wife, Sherry, Rick Hernandez and his wife, Renee Edwards,
