2- WHEREAS, For more than three decades, The Covenant School
3- in Dallas has provided students with a classical Christian
4- education rooted in the pursuit of knowledge in the areas of
5- grammar, logic, and rhetoric, with inspiration from classic

8+ WHEREAS, For more than three decades, The Covenant School in
9+ Dallas has provided students with a classical Christian education
10+ rooted in the pursuit of knowledge in the areas of grammar, logic,
11+ and rhetoric, with inspiration from classic literature; and
712 WHEREAS, During the past school year, the fifth grade class
813 at Covenant has demonstrated great diligence in studying the
914 history of the great State of Texas; to supplement their
1015 instruction, the students attended a living history day that taught
1116 them about the real lives of early Texas settlers, and they also
1217 learned about the Alamo and read a historical novel about a German
1318 family who immigrated to the Texas Hill Country; and
14- WHEREAS, To immerse themselves further in the story of
15- Texas, the fifth grade class performed a play for younger students
16- in Covenant's Grammar School about the meaning and history of the
17- six national flags that have flown over Texas during its different
18- eras of governance; the class's yearlong project culminated in a
19- multi-day trip to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and
20- the Texas State Capitol and a visit to the Alamo in San Antonio; and
19+ WHEREAS, To immerse themselves further in the story of Texas,
20+ the fifth grade class performed a play for younger students in

2227 excellent instruction and leadership from teachers Kelly Meyer,
2328 Carrie Anthony, Keely Dooley, Ashley Wilson, Jody Gibson, and
2429 Brandi Sosnowski and administrators Dr. Robert Littlejohn and
2530 Laura Mountjoy; their teachers were responsible not only for
2631 implementing the lesson plan but also for guiding students in
2732 completing service-oriented tasks at Covenant, which included
2833 raising and lowering the American and Texas flags according to
2934 proper protocols; and
3035 WHEREAS, Students in the fifth grade class at The Covenant
3136 School have demonstrated a commendable interest in the people and
3237 events that have shaped the Lone Star State, and it is a pleasure to
3338 recognize these outstanding young Texans; now, therefore, be it
34- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
35- Legislature, hereby honor the fifth grade students from The Covenant
36- School for their dedication to learning about Texas history and
37- extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success as engaged
38- citizens and lifelong learners; and, be it further
39+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
40+ hereby honor the fifth grade students from The Covenant School for
41+ their dedication to learning about Texas history and extend to them
42+ sincere best wishes for continued success as engaged citizens and
43+ lifelong learners; and, be it further
3944 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
