7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
28 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
39 recognize the students from member institutions of The Texas A&M
410 University System who are providing valuable support to the
511 senate during the 89th Legislative Session as members of the
612 Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy Internship Program,
713 the Public Policy Internship Program, the Bush School of
814 Government and Public Service Capstone Scholars Program, and the
915 Tarleton State University internship program; and
1016 WHEREAS, For more than three decades, the Agricultural and
1117 Natural Resources Policy Internship Program has sent students
1218 from Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life
1319 Sciences to Austin, Washington, D.C., and abroad, where they work
1420 on a wide array of issues; their strong background and interest
1521 in agriculture and natural resources allow them to offer
1622 specialized knowledge to the offices they serve, and over 1,000
1723 students have participated in this program to date; the current
1824 Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy Internship Program
1925 interns are Caitlin Castro, Braden Clampit, and Aiden Hunter; and
2026 WHEREAS, The Texas A&M University Public Policy Internship
2127 Program, established in 1999, invites students across all Texas
2228 A&M University degree programs to create an interdisciplinary
2329 environment for comprehensive academic training, research, and
2430 policy programming; interns in the nation's capital, in Austin,
2531 and abroad serve in a variety of settings that align with their
2632 professional goals; some 1,000 students have participated in
2733 this program to date; the current Public Policy Internship
28- Program interns are Jonathan Amason, Campbell Beresford, Dastan
29- Bigarli, Jareli Cavazos, Annie Mosis, Georgia Page, Haylee
30- Plumley, David Taravella, Owen Thompson, and Ezra Villarreal;

34+ Program interns are Jonathan Amason, Dastan Bigarli, Jareli
35+ Cavazos, Annie Mosis, Georgia Page, Haylee Plumley, David
36+ Taravella, Owen Thompson, and Ezra Villarreal; and
3237 WHEREAS, Starting with the 82nd Legislative Session, the
3338 Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M
3439 University has sent a select group of graduate students, known as
3540 Capstone Scholars, to work in the legislature; these students,
3641 most of whom intend to work in government positions when they
3742 graduate, bring knowledge, skills, and motivation to their
3843 respective offices; their legislative experiences add greatly to
3944 their professional development and benefit the state in myriad
4045 ways; the current Bush School Capstone interns are Julia
4146 Patterson and Kirsten Stewart; and
4247 WHEREAS, Since 2010, Tarleton State University has sent
4348 numerous interns to Austin and Washington, D.C., where they work
4449 on an array of issues; their strong background and interest in
4550 such topics as public policy, history, education, criminal
4651 justice, health care, and agriculture equip them to offer
4752 specialized knowledge to legislators; the current Tarleton
4853 intern is Lacy Malone; and
4954 WHEREAS, Through the years, these programs have helped
5055 exceptional students deepen their understanding of legislative
5156 processes and general government functionality while developing
5257 important professional skills and critical peer networks, and
5358 past program participants have gone on to make vital
5459 contributions and assume leadership roles in a variety of arenas;
5560 these outstanding young people who are serving with the utmost
5661 integrity and are giving of their time and talents throughout
5762 this legislative session may indeed take pride in their
5863 achievements and their selfless service to the Lone Star State;
5964 now, therefore, be it
6065 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
6166 Legislature, hereby recognize The Texas A&M University System
6267 policy interns and commend the current participants for their
6368 diligence and commitment to excellence; and, be it further
6469 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
6570 the students as an expression of high regard from the Texas
6671 Senate.
