2	8		WHEREAS, The celebration of Jack and Jill of America Day at
3		-	the State Capitol on April 7, 2025, offers a welcome opportunity
4		-	to honor the organization's South Central Region; and

5	11		WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America was founded in 1938 in an
6		-	effort to cultivate future generations of African American
7		-	leaders by providing youth between the ages of 2 and 19 with
8		-	opportunities related to leadership development, volunteer
9		-	service, philanthropic giving, and civic duty; the organization
10		-	is composed of mothers and their children, and its programming
11		-	includes service projects, lobbying, educational development,
12		-	and the coordination of community and charitable events; today,
13		-	it works with more than 50,000 family members in 271 chapters
14		-	nationwide; and
15		-	WHEREAS, The Houston and New Orleans, Louisiana, chapters
16		-	of Jack and Jill of America were chartered in 1952; the groups
17		-	came together five years later to form the organization's South
18		-	Central Region, which currently encompasses 38 chapters across
19		-	Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana; the region serves 2,116 mothers
20		-	and 1,827 fathers, as well as 1,360 associates and life members,
21		-	and its programs are attended by 1,996 children and 2,011
22		-	teenagers; and
23		-	WHEREAS, The South Central Region of Jack and Jill of
24		-	America has helped shape generations of leaders in the Lone Star
25		-	State and beyond, and the organization's invaluable
26		-	contributions are indeed worthy of recognition on this special
27		-	occasion; now, therefore, be it
28		-	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
29		-	Legislature, hereby recognize April 7, 2025, as Jack and Jill of
30		-	America Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those
31		-	affiliated with the organization's South Central Region sincere
32		-	best wishes for continued success.
