|---|

| 14 | 20 | | and the program has helped to shape responsible and engaged young |

| 15 | 21 | | citizens and future leaders; and |

| 16 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The annual YMCA Texas Youth and Government |

| 17 | 23 | | Program conferences provide a platform for young citizens |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | throughout the state who want to elevate their voices and engage |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | in meaningful debate and discussions on matters personal to them |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | and their communities; this year, more than 1,500 high school |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | students and nearly 500 middle school students are participating |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | in the event; and |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Transformative and educational, the YMCA Texas |

| 24 | 30 | | Youth and Government Program inspires young people to become |

| 25 | 31 | | responsible citizens who are active in the American democratic |
|---|
| 26 | 32 | | process and who are leaders and engaged members of their |
|---|
| 27 | 33 | | communities; the program and its participants are truly |

| 28 | 34 | | deserving of recognition for their commitment to upholding |

| 29 | 35 | | democracy and for their contributions to the bright future of our |

| 30 | 36 | | state and nation; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |

| 32 | 38 | | Legislature, hereby recognize the members of the YMCA Texas Youth |

| 33 | 39 | | and Government Program and extend to them best wishes for success |
