7+ SENATE RESOLUTION
28 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3- recognize the YMCA Texas Youth and Government Program in honor of
4- the group's visit to the State Capitol, where it will hold its
5- Middle School Youth and Government conference on February 1,
6- 2025, and its High School Youth and Government conference on
7- February 28 and March 1, 2025; and
9+ recognize the YMCA Texas Youth and Government Program in honor
10+ of the group's visit to the State Capitol, where it will hold
11+ its Middle School Youth and Government conference on February
12+ 1, 2025, and its High School Youth and Government conference
13+ on February 28 and March 1, 2025; and
814 WHEREAS, The YMCA Texas Youth and Government Program was
915 established in 1946 as a part of the YMCA's nationwide effort to
1016 heighten political awareness among the nation's youth and
1117 instill in them the value of social action; the Texas program has
1218 since taught countless young people the value of democratic
1319 government as well as its practical application in public policy,
1420 and the program has helped to shape responsible and engaged young
1521 citizens and future leaders; and
1622 WHEREAS, The annual YMCA Texas Youth and Government
1723 Program conferences provide a platform for young citizens
1824 throughout the state who want to elevate their voices and engage
1925 in meaningful debate and discussions on matters personal to them
2026 and their communities; this year, more than 1,500 high school
2127 students and nearly 500 middle school students are participating
2228 in the event; and
2329 WHEREAS, Transformative and educational, the YMCA Texas
2430 Youth and Government Program inspires young people to become
2531 responsible citizens who are active in the American democratic
2632 process and who are leaders and engaged members of their
2733 communities; the program and its participants are truly
2834 deserving of recognition for their commitment to upholding
2935 democracy and for their contributions to the bright future of our
3036 state and nation; now, therefore, be it
3137 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
3238 Legislature, hereby recognize the members of the YMCA Texas Youth
3339 and Government Program and extend to them best wishes for success
3440 at the 2025 middle school and high school conferences at the
3541 State Capitol; and, be it further
3642 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3743 the program as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
