7+ R E S O L U T I O N
28 WHEREAS, Stephen F. Austin State University is holding an
39 investiture ceremony for its 11th president, Dr. Neal Weaver, on
410 May 1, 2025; and
511 WHEREAS, Dr. Weaver was selected for this distinguished
6- position by The University of Texas System Board of Regents in
7- March 2024, following a rigorous search process and a unanimous
8- vote to appoint him; he began his tenure as president on May 13,
9- 2024; and
10- WHEREAS, During the first year of his presidency,
11- Dr. Weaver has ably guided Stephen F. Austin State University in
12- cultivating a supportive environment for its students, faculty,
13- and staff; he is certain to continue to lead the institution to
14- new heights as the latest addition to The University of Texas
15- System, with a clear focus on furthering the university's
16- academic mission, fostering innovation, and strengthening its
17- ties to the East Texas community; and

15+ WHEREAS, During the first year of his presidency, Dr. Weaver

18+ certain to continue to lead the institution to new heights as the
19+ latest addition to The University of Texas System, with a clear
20+ focus on furthering the university's academic mission, fostering
21+ innovation, and strengthening its ties to the East Texas community;
22+ and
1823 WHEREAS, Dr. Weaver has brought to his position a wealth of
19- experience in higher education leadership; he previously served
20- as president of Georgia Southwestern State University and as vice
24+ experience in higher education leadership; he previously served as
25+ president of Georgia Southwestern State University and as vice
2126 president for university advancement and innovation at Nicholls
22- State University, and he held various prominent roles at West
23- Texas A&M University and Northeastern State University; and
24- WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. Weaver has
25- demonstrated a commitment to student success, institutional
26- growth, and academic excellence; he has driven significant
27- progress in enrollment, retention, and fundraising at every
28- institution he has served; and
27+ State University, and he held various prominent roles at West Texas
28+ A&M University and Northeastern State University; and
29+ WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. Weaver has demonstrated
30+ a commitment to student success, institutional growth, and academic
31+ excellence; he has driven significant progress in enrollment,
32+ retention, and fundraising at every institution he has served; and
2933 WHEREAS, Highly educated, Dr. Weaver holds a bachelor's
3034 degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University, a master of
3135 business administration degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State
3236 University, and a doctor of philosophy degree in organizational
3337 leadership from the University of Oklahoma; and
3438 WHEREAS, Dr. Neal Weaver has proven himself to be an
35- accomplished leader in higher education and an effective
36- advocate for students, and the Stephen F. Austin State University
37- community is indeed fortunate to have him at the helm of the
38- institution; now, therefore, be it
39- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
40- Legislature, hereby congratulate Dr. Neal Weaver on his
41- investiture as president of Stephen F. Austin State University
42- and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with
43- his important work; and, be it further
39+ accomplished leader in higher education and an effective advocate
40+ for students, and the Stephen F. Austin State University community
41+ is indeed fortunate to have him at the helm of the institution; now,
42+ therefore, be it
43+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
44+ hereby congratulate Dr. Neal Weaver on his investiture as president
45+ of Stephen F. Austin State University and extend to him sincere best
46+ wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be it
47+ further
4448 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
45- prepared for Dr. Weaver as an expression of high regard from the
