| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | recognize May 6, 2025, as Golf Day in Texas; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A sport embraced by millions of Texans across all |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | ages and backgrounds, golfing provides recreational |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | opportunities that promote physical fitness, mental well-being, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and social interaction; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Texas stands as a national leader in the sport of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | golf; proudly serving as the headquarters of PGA of America, the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | state boasts more than 800 golf courses that span the state's |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | diverse and iconic landscapes; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The golf industry contributes significantly to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Texas economy; in 2023, the golfing sector generated a total |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | impact of $14.2 billion and supported more than 107,000 jobs |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | while enriching local tourism and hospitality industries; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The state has a proud golf legacy, with 25 Texans |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | in the World Golf Hall of Fame and 102 Major Championships won by |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Texans; Texas golf history is preserved through the Texas Golf |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Hall of Fame museum and anchor sites in Frisco and San Antonio; |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | each year, many professional golf tournaments are held in Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | as well as 15,000 golf-related charitable initiatives; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The sport is advanced in Texas by a strong network |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of allied organizations, including the Northern and Southern |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Texas Sections of PGA of America, the Texas Golf Association, the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Texas Golf Hall of Fame, the Texas Lone Star Chapter of the Club |

| 32 | 32 | | Management Association of America, the Lone Star Golf Course |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Superintendents Association of America, and the Texas Alliance |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | of Recreational Organizations; and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Recognizing Golf Day in Texas provides an |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | opportunity to celebrate the sport's profound influence on the |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | state's economy and culture while encouraging more Texans to |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | engage in golf and to appreciate the sport's contributions to our |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | shared quality of life and its positive impact on Texas |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | communities; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | Legislature, hereby recognize May 6, 2025, as Golf Day in Texas |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | and extend to all participants best wishes for a successful and |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | rewarding occasion; and, be it further |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
